Some internationally popular Lebanese foods include hummus, pita bread, falafel and baba ghanouj, (or roasted eggplant dip), and although Greek cuisine is more closely associated with baklava, Lebanese baklava is equally delicious with pistachio nuts and rose water as opposed to the Greek version containing walnuts and honey.
The national drink is called Arak, a clear anise flavored liquor which actually turns an opaque white color when water and ice are added to it. The other national drink could very well be coffee - typically strong, thick, flavored with cardamom and served in a demitasse.
Also, famous is The Mezze - an elaborate variety of 30 hot and cold dishes for entertaining and guests and Yakhnehs or stews for family meals. Mezze is similar to the Spanish tapas, or Italian antipasti, and includes small servings of many fresh and cooked foods.
