Vietnamese restaurants in the West Island
A delicious variation on the usual Asian fare, Vietnamese cuisine is influenced by everything from Buddhism to French cuisine. A typical Vietnamese kitchen offers dishes that stand apart with a fragrant range of fresh herbs and crisp raw vegetables (most often offered as side dishes), rice noodles, and the occasional heavy dose of fish sauce.

Perhaps the most famed of Vietnamese dishes is Pho, a deliciously aromatic beef noodle soup originating in the northern regions of Vietnam. But there are many other delights to be sampled as well: Spring rolls, a melange of crisp vegetables and rice noodles wrapped in thin rice paper and usually served with spicy peanut sauce; bun, rice noodle dishes served on a bed of greens; and bahn mi thit, the Vietnamese sandwich, a flavorful blend of meats and vegetables stuffed into a French baguette.
