well the night I was there,I was served by a waitress not a waiter,I didn’t get her name,but the service was great.She was very nice and polite.The smoked meat was very good,and the fries were also very good (fresh cut). This smoked meat is not the ordinary kind you find at most restaurants,Its very similar to the smoked meat you get at the “famous” deli on st-laurent who shall not be named, so if you don’t like that kind of smoked meat you won’t like Abies, but if you do than this is the place for you. Same great taste without all the hassles of long lines, no parking….

Wow! These are very harsh comments. Come on people, Abie’s is NOT THAT BAD, and my tastebuds are pretty much still working good….ive dined there maybe 6-7 times and maybe i didnt have the best food but it wasnt gross…its basic deli food! People, this is a deli, i dont know people expect as service. I just want my menu and food, no hi or bye, maybe a smile i guess and stupid small talk but its weird when i hear comments that waiters are insulting or disrespectful or wont clean tables. I mean i can see any waiter being a little rude in any restaurant so maybe im lucky, cause i never got any of that treatment or saw it. Wtv, as for the smoked meat, its decent…nothing out of the ordinary but it hits the spot. Prices are cheap and reasonable and fries are good. There you go..

You have to wonder if “Howard” has something to gain by re-stating a comment from 18 months ago! Whenever I’ve been there the staff is pleasant and the food good. I say give it a try if you haven’t then post you “current” experience here.

I am a professional smoke meat cutter. I have worked at all the other “smoke meat” delis in the west island. Abie’s is by far the cleanest place I have worked, period. Handling money? Only after they serve you. At least they wash hands at Abie’s. Unlike 90% of the other deli”s I worked at. This is the only place you can SEE what they cut. You don’t see what the cutters are doing with your meat, you would NOT be happy! The boss really cares and helps the customer, not just talk. You get bad sevice? Talk to Abie, he will make you happy for sure.Take it from a guy who has worked restaurants and is qualified to talk about this. Thanks for reading.

The thing about Abies is you have to order the fatty smoked meat, thats their specialty. If you order medium or lean they take it as an insult and give you a bad cut. Their fries are great. The service of course is horrible and rude, so its better to take your meal to go. Good fatty smoked meat though.

I’ve eaten at Abie’s several times and the smoked meat has always been top notch; medium fat maintains the flavor and the moisture as the meat just melts in your mouth. While the fries appear home cut, they can be inconsistent, but then again, I go there from Ottawa for the smoked meat.
