I am so going back for home made cakes!! If you dont go by, your loss…

I just ate at the restaurant for lunch. The new manager was there making sure we were enjoying our food. I really loved the new lunch menu. They really picked a direction with the restaurant and ran with it which is nice since we were always a little confused with the old menu.

The waiter told us that the table d`hote changes every couple of weeks so that will be checking in for their new stuff soon!

My wife ate the half salmon tartar and found it really good. (and she’s a real foodie for thoses!) I had the duck confit spring rolls and they just blew me away!! I wasn’t sure about it but the waiter, Jeff, told us they were amazing and he wasn’t kidding!

The manager came out when we were enjoy our main courses and he was telling us about the night menu and the tapas they had. We are looking forward to trying more things..

This place really won us over today, we will be back soon!

My kids and wife would give this 4 stars but I found it to be good but average.

I want to give an honest review because I think the owners try hard but just miss the mark. I went two weeks ago being a long time West Islander looking for another nice restaurant to go to. Let’s start with the waiter we had. He knew absolutely nothing about the menu. I asked what the ribs came with and he pointed to another menu item. He told us there was only one soup, I didn’t like what it was and didn’t offer the other. Same with the dessert. He said there was carrot cake which I didn’t like and when we walked out we find out there was a something else. We waited about 40 minutes after the salad until the main dish came without anyone coming by. I had to send back my steak as it was almost raw. You would have thought the owners would have come by our table, not only because things were not going our way but also, in this competitive West Island restaurant market where people go sometimes cause they just want to feel like a “somebody”, they were no where to be found. I think I saw who they were but were not sure. There was no real Manager or Maitre D to be found (this was a Saturday night). One other thing, I love onion soup. Everywhere I go I order it if available. But at $10.00, this better be the best damn onion soup in town and was not willing to try. The food overall was so so. If they only offer average food at those prices with no real effort to know your customers I’m afraid there will be another “a loue” sign there soon. Unless I hear better things I will spend my $90.00 per couple somewhere else. And truthfully, I feel bad because I think they could make a go of this place but they really should hire a good manager who knows how to run a West Island restaurant with decent enough food and an atmosphere where they feel very welcome and appreciated customers. Wouldn’t be a bad idea for the owner or manager to introduce themselves, send over a dessert, etc… Anything to get the customer back!

I’m not surprised by what you wrote, Steven. I went there in early December and it was utter crap. But last week a colleague of mine took me out for dinner there (I had no say in the matter), and I went in expecting the worst. I was even a bit rude to the waitress, I’m ashamed to say, but you know how it is when you’re expecting bad food and poor service.
Well, I don’t know what the owner did, but I’m glad to say my colleague dragged me there for dinner. The place has really, really turned around. I decided to stick with the tapas menu (honestly, I was afraid to try anything else), which was new, and it was well worth it. Service was fast, food was great, it was as if I had walked into a whole new restaurant! Seriously, the place is worth a second chance. I know I’ll go back.
