The decor was classy and the atmosphere was lively but the noise level was loud. Service was professional but a little slow. We got our food an hour after placing our orders and some of my colleagues got their appetizers just as others were finishing theirs. In terms of the quality of the food, it was uneven. The bread that started off the meal was warm and fresh with a soft, spongy texture in the middle and a crisp crust. I ordered an appetizer of fried squid and found it tender and not too rubbery. But the breading tasted a little off. I don’t know if it was the flour or the oil that gave it a slightly stale aftertaste. I also tried the Garlic Snails. I thought it was good but others might find the garlic too strong and excessive. My main course was the New York Strip Loin Steak. It was perfectly medium rare as I requested but way too salty. The side dish of potato was tasty and well seasoned but I was disappointed that I only got a 1 1/2 thin slice of it. I was expecting a little more considering the high price of the dish. But the rest of the vegetables were perfectly cooked, sweet, and delicious. For dessert I had the Strawberry Almond Cheesecake, which was light and creamy and the best part of the entire meal.

I have eaten at Vivaldi’s about 5 times and have never had a bad meal. It’s pricey which is too bad because I’d eat there more often but when we need a nice place to go it’s Vivaldi’s for our first choice. The only complaint I have about the restaurant is that it’s very noisy. The acoustics in there are very poor so it makes it hard to hear one another; other than that I have no complaints. It’s also nice that you can bring your own wine, so that saves lots of money on the wine list.

We just went to Vivaldi’s tonight for Canada Day Celebration. What a disappointment. Usually the calamari is the best in town….tonight it was tough and overcooked Our pasta was barely cooked and the cheese included in the dish was so cold it didn’t melt…just big chunks of boccacino cheese sitting there in a watery sauce The osso buco was tough and stringy. The pasta putanesca was so salty it couldn’t be eaten. We raved about this place to our friends and were so disappointed. The only high spot of the evening was the wine we brought with us was FANTASTIC and the waiter removed the osso buco from the bill. I just hope that this was an off night and not a downward trend in quality. It hurts to spend 275 dollars on food that tastes no better than what you could get in the frozen food aisle of the Metro next door.

My boyfriend and I have been going to Vivaldi for 7 years and have always loved the atmosphere, food, and service. This past Valentines day we went in for our romantic evening together expecting the same as always. We started off with an appetizer of fried calamari and zucchini. When the employee brought this dish to the table he “accidentally” split a glass of wine all over my boyfriend, who was then soaking wet. We were both in shock because the employee had no sense of remorse towards his action. We decided to keep it calm and just act as if nothing happened. Next thing we know the table on the other side had the same dilemma with their glass of wine. I asked the employee if he dropped wine on all his customers and he rudely replied “it happens”. The employee went on with his reply by including some profanities which I was bewildered by. This is when I decided to leave. I just want people to know that this employee did not even get in trouble for calling me a “f****** c***”. Lets just say I was furious and that there is NO room for respecting customers in this restaurant even after 7 years of spending my money there. This one terrible, obnoxious, unpleasant employee has ruined my experience at Vivaldi and never even apologized to me for anything that happened. None of the staff had any kind of compassion and even told me to “take it outside” instead of dealing with the situation. I even spoke to the manager who could barely speak any words on the issue and also did not apologize. After my Valentines day was ruined, my boyfriend and I decided to go to Riccardos on St. Jean to only experience astounding, admirable and wondrous service, food, atmosphere, and RESPECT.

I wanted to try an new restaurant and found this one online. It’s in a not so great strip mall, but once inside we were surprised at how nice it is. It’s very nice looking and modern. The food was delicious and it’s very busy so make sure to have reservations. It is a noisy restaurant, but that did not bother me.
