Jack Astors Bar & Grill

Business Details

Jack Astor’s Bar and Grill West Island is an American-style bar whose chefs take great pride in their food. As a matter of fact, Jack Astor’s in Dorval dares to defy the norms of traditional pub fare by featuring dishes inspired by the chef team’s worldwide travels, such as Pad Thai and Bombay Chicken Curry. Of course, their menu also features bar food favorites like burgers, fries, and their famous fresh, never frozen Chicken Fingers. There’s also a nice selection of desserts as well as fairly portioned kids’ menu items. Whether you want to catch the big game or relax and enjoy a meal, Jack’s is the place to go.

I’ve been to Jack Astor’s three times – and it’s three strikes, you’re out.
Screwed up orders, bad food, incompetent serving staff and management…
I so wanted to like this place – I gave it one star for the decor.

I wouldn’t go back for a free meal.

Went there to watch sports. Called ahead and asked hostess upon arriving to confirm that they were showing it. The event turned off one minute in, and notice showed on screen that they did not pay for the Pay Per View.

Waitress got us the manager, manager instantly got defensive and blamed Shaw direct and didn’t want to offer so much as a real apology. She blamed the network, when we told her it was playing fine at other establishments she said she’d go “check”.

Came back and blamed the servers for Jack Astor’s, says it was Shaw’s fault and was present at all Jack Astor’s. I smelled BS so I called two other locations, both were showing the event.

In short, waiters/waitresses gave excellent service, however service at the management side is laughable. Never go there to watch sports. I’m never going back period.

If you are looking to eat at a basic restaurant that is affordable, I suggest visiting Jack Astor’s. It’s a very family friendly restaurant and offers huge portions. Make sure to try the garlic bread; it is absolutely delicious!

Jack Astor’s has a friendly atmosphere and some of the tastiest burgers you will ever eat. I went there on a Friday night with a friend and had the greatest time. It was quite loud inside the restaurant, but I was still able to enjoy myself.

I’ve been to this restaurant a few times and have yet to be disappointed. It’s great for kids that get to draw on tables. I’ve seen some young couples eating here and drinking wine wanting a quiet dinner while the table next door had a hockey team screaming loudly. It’s an odd combination as the people eating don’t know what to expect and neither does the restaurant in who they want to cater or market their restaurant to.

I’ve eaten a few times here and adore the garlic bread that should be dripping in garlic sauce much to the dismay of some reviewers. I always order the always fresh and never frozen buffalo chicken fillets and I’ve never been disappointed. They offer some very weird asian inspired food combinations and some Italian food that my friend ordered and said was tasty but was too small a dish. I would agree but also recommend not to go to a bar and grill and order ravioli but that’s just my opinion. I’ve seen friends order burgers and they always enjoyed the meal and never complained about the burgers.

I would disagree with what the person below mentioned about the price. The food is expensive but is not any more expensive than any other West Island bar and grill restaurant of similar quality.

I know I should be more harsh on this place but every time I go I never seem to run into any issues and therefore would recommend anyone to go at least once and bring the kids and have a fun loud night out.

We went there yesterday with my young kids. It was one of the worst experiences I had in my life. Food was not good and was very expensive. For the same price you can have much much better food. Kid’s menu was also very expensive. Burgers were not good. Even they did not look good. The burger that I make at home is much better than that. I do not recommend and I will never go again.
