Will never EVER go back! The food is good, the staff is friendly and the ambiance a bit on the loud side. The problem is the owner. God forbid you have a problem or negative comments, this psychotic man will throw you out after yelling at you. And no, this did not happen to me. My problem was leaving him messages regarding a coupon that he would not honour and his blunt refusal to speak to me.

Same thing happened to me! But I got yelled at and told to never come back and to spread the word! All because I asked them to replace the Ice Cream dessert for a banana for my 3 yr old child!

Have had great meals here in the past; today was very disappointing.
Server who seemed entirely disinterested and tossed condiments and plates onto the table. Burger was bland and cheese on it was no where near melted; the fries were dark and seemed overdone on the outside but were undercooked on the inside. My friend had the same issues with her burger and fries also the burger was supposed to come with onion rings; they were missing; when we told our server about this he quickly brought is some they were cooked but absolutely cold.
Doubt I’ll be going back. Too bad because was a good option in the past.

I’ve been there a few times and have always have had great service and good food. It is loud. But I have not had a bad experience. I’d recommend this restaurant highly. I love it that you get a milkshake and you get the rest from the blender to top up your shake. A little thing that is a touch of old times.

What a cheerful place! But the manager did scream at one of the employees for a while. All in all, we had a good time, and the food was good. This is a good place for a casual meal, and the staff was really nice, except for that manager

I don’t know why everyone is so critical and judgmental, Jukebox Burgers is not a 5 star restaurant, it is a 50′s diner and they serve the most amazing burgers. They just got a new menu and they have food for everyone; kids, teenagers and adults. Their portions are huge which everyone should appreciate because we know we are getting quantity and quality for our buck. I go to Jukebox at least once a month and my boyfriend and I love it. the employees are super sweet and always greet us kindly, they speak to us as if we are friends. I have never had a bad experience at Jukebox and I doubt I ever will. I highly recommend this restaurant, and if by chance you go on a night that is super busy (which just means the restaurant is popular), don’t get mad if you don’t get your burger in 3 minutes, this isn’t MacDonalds!

This place has great burgers with huge portions. My son loved his French fries too. He had a lot of fun picking songs on the jukebox. I loved my chocolate sundae and my burger too.

Wow jukebox burgers have probably one of the best hamburgers I have ever had hands down. They are seasoned and cooked to perfection! I go there on a regular basis and have yet to have found a problem with the food or the staff for that matter. I’ve been reading these reviews and either the people who write these are wannabe food critics or people who are so picky that they don’t realise how busy this restaurant can get (believe me on a Saturday they’re quite popular for people of all ages). That being said, I don’t know the staff personally but they seem to always welcome me as one of their own. I can’t stress enough on how good those burgers are. Don’t be fooled by those Wolfgang Puck types who think that because the restaurant is busy they can’t wait 5 minutes for a hamburger like everyone else!

P.S pour le West Island j`ai été très bien servi en français ce qui peut être quelque chose de rare dans cette région de Montréal ! Une très belle expérience !!!!!!!

Honestly, drove all the way from downtown to try this place with my girlfriend. We were very excited. Unfortunately, that all changed very quickly. While the atmosphere was nice, the service was horrible. We got stuck with a waiter who was extremely rude. It’s always nice having a waiter correct you on how to pronounce the names on the menu. Who really cares. Extremely rude, especially if you’re on a date. I asked for the bill. Doesn’t even hand it to you. Leaves it at the corner of the table, so i have to lean over. Ordered a vodka lemonade. Didn’t even put the vodka. Trying to trick me. Really? Here’s a message to the owners and whoever decides to eat at Jukebox burgers. While your food is good, remember, it’s all about the experience. I can go eat a burger and fries at 100 different places in Montreal that’s just as good. I came to your place for the experience, and your rude staff ruined that. When restaurants like yours allow your staff to be rude to clients, that’s when things go downhill. Burgers and fries. I can go to Baton Rouge for the same price, even cheaper, and have above and beyond service. I even approached your waiter after, and told him of my experience. He started yelling and saying he was working there for 3 years…etc…. If you want to last, don’t treat your customers like disposable patrons. IF YOU LIVE IN THE WEST AND YOU’RE HUNGRY, I GUESS ITS AS GOOD AS ANY OTHER FASTFOOD RESTAURANT, IF YOU CAN HANDLE THE HORRIBLE SERVICE. IF YOU LIVE OUTSIDE THE WEST ISLAND, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! OVERPRICED! HORRIBLE SERVICE!

Yesterday was my second time at this restaurant and definitely my last. Management was rude and awful. The owner was yelling at us because we were asking questions about our table and reservations, We had reservations for 7:30 and they gave our table to someone else. I have never been yelled at in a restaurant. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. When we told him we were leaving, he said GO. The hostess was really nice though.

Been going to jukebox from week one and the burgers have always been great. My only complaint and the primary cause as of why I have slowed down going as often as I used to is that the Chilli Mac used to be one of the best I had ever tasted. Unfortunately, it seems that the quality of the Pasta and or the general recipe has dropped in quality dramatically. Cutting corners is not the way to keep people interested in your product and I sincerely hope the place doesn’t slide anymore, it would be unfortunate.

My 4 year old daughter loved the look of the place. It’s too bright and too loud for my liking though. The seats are also rock hard which isn’t very pleasant. I was seated at the restaurant and before even opening the menu, I was approached by the waitress asking if I were ready to order. I kindly told her that we had just been seated and haven’t had time to even open the menu yet. This seemed to annoy her so she left and didn’t come back for a solid 15min. I tried to make eye contact with her when I was ready to order, but she seemed to be having more fun by the kitchen chatting and laughing loudly with other staff. When our Mac n cheese finally came, it was average. The portion was overwhelming and became quickly sickening. I didn’t even bother with dessert. The food was pricey for the quality. The overall atmosphere made me uncomfortable. From the moment I walked in and was less than greeted by the hostess, I felt like I was a nuisance to the staff who was more concerned with themselves. I will take my business elsewhere from now on.

I am not sure who is running this restaurant. The food is OKAY, but the staff is poorly trained and downright RUDE. The manager/maître D who greeted us was rude, obnoxious and had no idea what he was doing (took our family to 3 different tables, all of which were not yet cleaned and then back to the front desk when he saw none of the tables were ready. Not even an apology or explanation!). Look, fun 50′s gimmick is one thing, a restaurant serving paying customers is quite another. Why do the owners not cull this staff and start again???!!! NOT RECOMMENDED!

THINK TWICE …. As of my last experience with this restaurant, I have decided to never return and encourage this establishment.
When this place just opened, curiosity brought me there to try it out. Service was not great as the waiter had no idea about the menu and took very long to get food. This is expected for the first few weeks until they get a hang of it so it was acceptable but not great.
Second time around, I called to reserve since it was a Saturday night and was told “`we don`t take reservations“. When I arrived to get a table for 4, I was given attitude and eye rolling because I had not reserved, waited 20min to be seated and had unacceptable service with a impolite waiter. Food was not very good to the point where my kid even threw up right there on her plate. At this point, we decided to avoid this restaurant.
Because of a family member was very curious and wanted to go, we decided to go as a group of 8 for Father`s day. I called to reserve and after a 2 min hold to verify, I was told “Like, it`s father’s day, so like, we don’t take reservations, so like it`s first come first serve“. I figured with an early afternoon lunch, we would not have a problem getting a table. When we got there, it literally took 10min to get acknowledgment from the manager who was seating guests. We were 8 people with another couple beside us waiting to be seated. The manager seemed to be more pre-occupied with a female waitress near the kitchen. When he came, without a hello, how are you…, he asked “how many“. He said it would be 15-20 min. Looking into the restaurant, it was pretty empty and I wondered why so long. Then came the comment: “you should have made a reservation“. I explained the situation with the call I had made earlier and what I was told. I also explained this was the second time this happened here. The manager was more concerned with proving me wrong about how they work for reservations than apologising for the inconvenience and making sure the table for 8 gets ready ASAP. Others waiting in line got seated before us as we waited to get our spot.
Once seated, an ill-mannered waiter came around took the order and brought us the tasteless food. Lobster Wrap, in a hot dog bun. You call it a Lobster wrap even if there is barely any lobster in it. Just call it a vegetarian hot dog cause that what 16$ will get you.
Poor service, nonchalant waiters and a rude manager made me take the decision…. NEVER AGAIN. I should have read more of these reviews before going back.

could have saved anyone some money and time. This restaurant is plain disgusting. Horrible staff, management, and food. It is not even worth going and getting out of the car. Dry burgers, brown fries, runny milkshakes, pure GARBAGE.
Trust me, spend your money elsewhere and not this joke of a restaurant. I have heard many complaints from various people and believe me they are all 200% true.
Will NEVER EVER return again. So Long JUNKBOX.!!!!!

Service used to be acceptable but recently it became really bad… You have to work hard to get the attention of the waiters who are always busy with anything but their job, burgers are ok but rheir onion rings are downright disgusting and when mentionned to waiter, she doesnt take it back or do anything about it! Just mentions that they buy from an external supplier! what do I care, you gave me an inedible greasy onion rings and as a customer, I do not think I am asking too much for you to take it back or bring a better one!

I had enjoyed going there for the last few months every week but this was my last visit. Worst thing is that after this very bad service level, they expect a tip of 15% and give attitude over a tip of 10%.

Jack astors has much better service and food for me from now on.

Wow. Reading some of these reviews are so off base it’s incredible. Having lived through the 50′s, I appreciate the authenticity of the Jukebox. Red and white vinyl, chrome edges, a jukebox, booths, black and white tile floor, even a popup straw dispenser. Man, this was a trip down memory lane for me. It was so much like the old malt shops and drugstore soda fountains of the 50′s.

As to cleanliness, the place was spotless. I saw waitresses cleaning tables, using spray bottles of spray and clean wipes, not a dirty rag as mentioned in one comment. The glasses were clean, cutlery also. No problem there.

Service was a bit slow, sure, but think about it. People used to go to a resto to relax and have a nice meal, not to fly in, scarf down a burger and fly out again. Our lives are so sped up now, we have forgotten how to relax. I’m ok with being given enough time to choose without feeling rushed.

Now to the food. Why would having to choose from meat type, bun type, main type and side be complicated as one person said? Seemed pretty straight forward to me. The bun (honey brown) was fresh, the toppings were fresh and the fries were fresh. No problem there. Now the burger…ahh the burger. Where do you get a fresh ground hand formed burger fried on a flat top to juicy perfection like this. You see, most of you have never had a real burger before. Back in the day, burgers were made just this way; fresh ground chuck, hand formed, fried on a hot flattop. The result was a well cooked burger on the outside with a nice juicy inside. The surface glistens with natural juice. These are not the cardboard burgers sold by others, where the lack of real meat taste is masked by spicy sauces. Because the burger is ground from chuck and not from mechanically separated meat, there is no danger of bacteria from other parts of the cow and the burger can be cooked medium to medium well without a problem. The result is a tasty juicy burger.

As to staff, I found them friendly, appropriate and well trained. There were two waitresses and a counter server, and they seemed to have everything well in hand. Top marks.

The ambience was very 50′s with good music playing all the time, loud enough to hear but not loud enough to be distracting.

In short, it’s the best burger I’ve had since 1959. Thanks Jukebox for the ride through my youth! Great job.

This will be my first review of a restaurant and I plan to review many more when I get a chance as I like to check out various fast food places in Montreal and hope that honest reviews will keep management on their toes and offer good quality meals to their customers.

I went to Jukebox on August 15th with my mother who was on vacation. My mother is more honest in criticism if she witnesses something that is wrong with the food or service while I will generally take things less critically but am more shy and prefer not to speak my mind if the food is poor and simply won’t return if I didn’t like the food or service. This was my 4th visit to the Jukebox. My friends and I first ate there when the restaurant had just opened up and were greeted by the owner as we ate to find out if the food or service was to our liking. The food was very good and the suzy q fries were very fresh and tasty. On the second visit, I ordered the same meal (franky combo) and even ordered a macaroni and cheese on the side which I didn’t realize would be that huge. Once again,The combo was good and the macaroni and cheese was decent but nothing to give rave reviews about. I make fresh mac and cheese at home a lot so I’m a bit more critical but seeing as most restaurants don’t even offer mac & cheese on the menu I’ll give them an A+ for effort.

On the third occasion, I had a Chaplin burger as it was cheaper and the fries tasted stale. I looked around at other tables and their fries seemed much fresher and not as burnt. I should have spoken up about the fries but I wasn’t paying and the rest of the meal was decent so I didn’t want to bother. Now, on the 4th occasion, my criticism will be a bit more fair as I did not enjoy the experience very much at all. The waitress kindly helped my mother choose what she wanted on the menu and showed her what the options were. When our food arrived, both our fries were way overcooked. If you can take a fry and snap it like you would a branch from a tree then it’s overcooked. The waitress graciously accepted to bring us a new batch of fries out but the second batch was not much of an improvement over the 1st batch.

The burgers tasted like what you would expect a non frozen patty to taste like if you were doing them on the BBQ. I agree with the criticism that they could use some spices such as pepper or salt. But, overall they’ve always been fresh and juicy and not overcooked which is what I expected when I wanted to eat at this establishment so I knew what I was getting into when I went here and the burgers were just as good as last time. My mom’s chicken sandwich tasted very bland and nothing special. It’s chicken which has always been tasteless so maybe the owners should add a dry rub or a marinade to give it a bit more taste? I had a coupon for a free sundae. It was just vanilla with some hot chocolate fudge but was cold and tasty.

Upon paying the bill, my mom mentioned to the waitress how the fries were not much better and she offered to give us another batch to eat at home. We had a coupon to save 5$ if we spent more than 25$ and our bill hadn’t reached 25$. Normally, I would think of something to order to equal the coupon but I stopped and thought “Why?” For those that do know me, I don’t pass up a free meal but for the first time, I thought “Why should I spend more money on this unpleasant experience?” I feel bad for the waitress as she did everything that I can think of in an awkward situation to try and make the experience more satisfactory but overall the meal was just not to our liking.

Back at home, I tried the fries and again they tasted awful. I’ve never ever said no to a french fry that I didn’t like but this might have been a first for me. I got the feeling that the minimal amount of people eating at the restaurant might have contributed to the poor fries as the cook might have been told to save money and not cook a fresh batch and was using the same fries that were sitting in the fryer cooling off for too long and because of their small size and freshness can turn stale very quickly and harden up.

I used to like eating at the restaurant since it’s one of the few places to offer a freshly made cherry pepsi but with cherry pepsi reappearing in Quebec grocery stores for the first time in over a decade I might change my mind. I really want to give this place a better review as I’m a huge comfort food fan and generally like all the greasy diner-drive-ins and dives type of places that offer fresh quality food but am finding it difficult after 5 failed batches of fries. The ambiance is fine and it’s nice to sit out and eat here in the summer. There’s lots of kids and noise when it’s busy on the weekend so if you want a nice quiet meal then don’t come to this place but this should seem very obvious from the get go as jukebox music, burgers and milkshakes are sure to attract little kids who love soda and ice cream.

I will give this place one more shot as it’s difficult to stop visiting a restaurant based solely on the fries but since they’re part of the combo they should be just as tasty and add value to the overall experience. I don’t know what else to say to management of this restaurant except to fix your suzy q fries as I’ve had a good batch before and they tasted great so I know that you can do better as I’ve seen the results myself but the last 5 out of 6 batches being poor is definitely rated poor in my opinion. I can see that management takes a key interest in these reviews as they’re featured on this website and offer several of their own opinions and evaluations to the reviewers. That’s fine and great but there’s no need for one for this review. Fix the burnt fries and the next time I eat here I’ll know if there’s been an improvement or not.

    Thank You.

I have been there twice. The first time, my friends beer was in a glass that was dirty. It looked as if they washed ashtrays with the glasses. The burger was good, the fries were salty….very salty. The second time I went, they were very busy and understaffed. The waitress was doing her best and I do not have a problem with her at all. The problem was the guy at the bar, serving food, clearing tables, and sweating profusely. He seemed very stressed and wasn’t friendly. When I spoke to our server about him, she replied, he’s one of the owners. I haven’t been back since.

I have been to JukeBox several times I have had a variety of burger and sides,
cause let’s face when you strip off all the make-up, and look at the food, its gonna be the burger and sides that will sink or float a place like this.

Lets start with the burgers, nice that they are made with actual ground beef and choice of buns is fun, but can complicate, what should be a simple thing
unless you are over hungry , I would stay away from the standard burgers they are huge (think movie theater soft drink big) but I always say that, and often get one anyway, the “Rocket” burger, is topped by about 8 onion rings and served with a steak knife burried to the hilt, as a tooth pick to hold the thing together, for a great burger in reasonable portion, try a “chaplin, Dean with cheese”, the one thing i would say to JUKEBOX is please be real careful; not to over cook the burger, and as a customer ask them not to over cook the burger, (likely they use a topside cooker system)

With all the different people I have been with, the Mac n Cheese variations have been a hit, I also like the sweet potato poutine(although a slighly darker gravy would be better , this one is a little too ST Huberts for me) , fries are good, but not extraordinary, not too greasy

Good food reasonable prices, room for improvement, but keep up the good work juke box

    and please fix the jukebox

PS the atmosphere varies widely depending on time of day and day of the week
and sometimes screaming children come with the territory,
But I can’t blame the BOX for the fact that people are unqualified to be parents

The decorations are very nice and fit with the whole 1950′s style. However, the waitresses are a bit too flirty when they serve.I mean yes they want their tips but they don’t have to make it OBVIOUS! When I got serve my girlfriend and I got shocked at the fact the waitress was actually looking only at me when ordering and talking to me and giving cold looks to my hot looking girlfriend. We went there often and I noticed many waitresses act flirty in a very unappropriated way. They are our servants when we order food, we don’t ask them to do more than smiling and obey our orders quickly and efficiently. The burgers are over cooked and there is a terrible smell toward the milk-bar like old dirty cloth that is used to wash the counters. So please tell your waitresses to not be flirty with customers because it’s rude to show too much you wanna have a tip. Respect the client and when clients are taking orders LOOK at both clients not just one. Your employes are our servants in this restaurant.Make them work better. Or instead of taking young adolescent girls who impresses you on their interview days with their pretend good attitude and who don’t know anything about good services, take older!

I was at the restaurant twice last week. If I was you id start by getting your pants back from your girlfriend since she obviously wears them and maybe consider taking a spelling class. What kind of male complains that a waitress is overly friendly. And I’m not sure if you’re from the middle ages but today we don’t consider waitresses to be servants you should get some respect. Then again re reading it looks like your girlfriend was probably the one who wrote it. The food was amazing when I went and the waitress was very polite and professional. Perhaps the waitress didn’t look at your girlfriend since she may be unpleasant to look at. And for the smell there is always the possibility that your nose is too close to your mouth.

Having been to Jukebox more almost 10 times now, I feel that I’m qualified to write a review. As you may have guessed, I love the restaurant. The burgers are amazing and are always nicely cooked. Fries are amazing and the Poutine is a must substitute. Chaplins (smaller, cheaper burger available) allow you to eat a good meal and not feel too full. That’s especially handy when you have to go back to work after lunch. Decor is great. It’s just fun to be there…

The only real negatives: drinks & noise level.

Now maybe I’m wrong but I thought I read that they offer free refills? NOT ONCE at Jukebox, has the staff ever offered to refill my drink. I always have to ask. It’s sitting empty, they come to check in on us, empty glasses all around… Nothing. Maybe a policy to keep customers from getting too full for desert? I just find it odd. I would pay for refills.

It can get a little noisy at peak times. They seem to play with the volume of the music to try to help. But I suspect it’s caused by the design of the building and not something that can be changed. And a full restaurant means fresh food and a place that will hopefully be around for a long time.

Personally, I find these minor points and I’ll continue to go as well as encourage others to try it.

I have been to jukebox three times in the last couple of months…loved it! Food was excellent, portions very generous, music was fun and atmosphere happy. I went on a Saturday night, Thursday afternoon and Monday, and all three times we had someone seating us and our food did not take too long, even on Saturday when it was packed. So, those who had a bad experience above were really unlucky…or, I’ve been super lucky, lol, don’t know which one.
I have already told quite a few people about this place and they can’t wait to try it.

We strive to consistently deliver extraordinary value. Truth be told, it is a challenge that has to be met on with full determination every time a customer walks into the establishment. On the occasions that we fail, less than 1 percent of the time, we are quite likely to see a dissatisfied customer. Our goal is to bat 100%. In due course we will get there. Thanks for the encouragement,

Terrible service, terrible service terrible service. I couldn’t believe it when we walked in there was no hostess at the door. It then took 40 mins before we had to go and find someone and another 25 mins before we were seated at the bar??? Did i mention we had made reservations??? Finally after 30 mins at the bar we were seated at a booth for 4 and we were 8. Needless to say it was not comfortable. We finally order and when the wrong meals are sent to our tablke i am furious. I ask to speak to a manager and explain that due to the fact that we are 8 sitting at a table for 4 i was unpleased enough, however my daughter has allergies to food which anyone with children who have food allergies know this is no laughing matter, to which he replies. You can always go somewhere else mame. needless to say we left and will never be returning!!!!!!

I’ve been here several times at night and never experienced this kind of amateur service before. After this, I don’t think I’ll ever come back

Sounds like we made many mistakes. Depending on the evening, we sometimes do not have the resources to pay a person to be dedicated to the host position. It’s a question of balancing service with costs, with costs inevitably being paid for with higher menu prices.

When there is no host, the responsibility is shared by the waiter or manager. If you were forced to wait 40 minutes at the door, even if you had no reservation, that is too long. It sounds like there must have been bad communication between you and the person responsible for getting you a table.

Of course, 8 people simply can’t fit at a table for four. I simply don’t understand what happened here.

Finally, we had a policy of serving a specially prized Sundae sampler that comes with M And Ms for which there are “no substitutes”. While the M and Ms ARE NOT the peanut variety, they may have come in contact with peanuts. They should simply have been replaced with Smarties. Our mistake, and perhaps the most important one of the night. Sorry, and we have revised our policy by serving the dessert with Smarties instead of MMs.

We DO hope you continue to frequent our restaurant. Sorry and thanks again for having been a loyal customer.

I am very disappointed with this restaurant. My husband and I were told by good friends that the atmosphere and food were A1. We arrived at 6:10 PM to the 1/2 filled retro diner – it looked great. We did not get served our food until 7:35 PM; no explanation, no apology. In fact, the waiter really lacked any empathy for us – the very customers he was serving (we refused to leave him a tip). We have experienced “West Island” snobbitude, but this was very special. We asked to see a manager, and when he arrived his phone rang. He walked off to take his call and never came back.
Our food was so-so; my burger was very greasy and very cooked – overcooked actually. I did not eat any of the twisty fries – grease traps. I must say that the decor was outstanding, and I had a really excellent shake. I do not recommend this restaurant – it compares to big-box fast food for quality, and lack sufficient customer service.

      Hi Yvette,

Thanks for taking the time to write.

Our median wait time for getting a burger is about 14 minutes from when the order is placed. The average is about 16 minutes. It sounds like your order was lost, and that is a shame. Sorry.

We are not comparable to a fast food chain. Fries, which are fried, can be replaced by potatoes, salad, coleslaw, all of which are home made and grease free. Sorry you didn’t like them. They have a large surface area to weight ratio, which May not have
      been to your liking.

That our manager did not field your complaint is not acceptable to us owners.
      He has been spoken to.

Glad you liked the shake and decor. Sorry about the rest, and I hope you can try us again and get the Jukebox Experience your friends told you about.

Finally an event restaurant in the West Island!
We really wanted to go out as a family and enjoy something different but have been terribly disapointed of late in the poor offerings in the West Island.

The service was fast and friendly, the ambiance is pure fun! Food was real old-style malt shoppe and fantastic (gotta try the mac’n’cheese.. best I’ve ever had).

We WILL be back and will bring friends next time. It’s about time we had something more than the same as usual.

Thanks Jukebox! You livened up our Sunday!

Went with two of friends and we arrived at 9:30 pm on the 21/3. They told us the kitchen would close soon afterwards and we told them we would show up, make the order fast and get out asap. Good plan right! It didn’t turn out so good…
I ordered the bacon cheese burger. (I didn’t care much for the name reference on burgers). My friends the pattie between the grilled cheeses and my other friend ordered the Beliveau (mango salsa+ avocado).
So when we had called to announce we were coming they told us we would have to hurry up and order. We were fine with that. Once we showed up it took 10minutes before the waitress came to take our order and another 20-22minutes before the burgers showed up.
Finally, the burgers were delivered by what seemed to be the manager (his ass was hanging out of his pants) I thought only teenagers wore them below the buttcheeks! Thanks for that! 😀 .. It added greatly to my burger experience.
Throughout our wait we looked around at their managers and their behaviour. This is what we witnessed.
Someone who seemed to be the girlfriends just throwing herself everywhere and the other “manager” was playing around the dining room with his new video camera and attempting to fake interview some employees. Must you really do that with customers in your establishment?
Finally, our burgers showed up after 22 minutes. One of my friends ordered sweet potato fries and they were cold. The waitress offered a replacement portion which she took the second portion was warm and tasty. Then, we checked our other fries and the top was warm and the bottom cold as if they stayed on the holding pass under the lamp for too long… I mentioned it to the waitress who stood there and just offered more fries… Nice gesture, I like my fries done properly the 1st time. There was no way I wanted more of those greasy fries 2 deep fried just to warm them through again.
Now the piece de resistance! The best burgers in the west island it’s why we came to sample the best of the best. It was like a wet fire cracker.. that sums our experience in a phrase.
The meat was angus beef, no doubt. My burger had no seasoning on the meat so it tasted pretty bland. The bread was supposed to be “cooked fresh” It was at least 24 hours old and dry and not yeasty at all. My friend with the grilled cheese burger was the best. The grilled cheese were done right. The meat suffered lack of seasoning but when you make 2 good grilled cheese, no matter what you put in the middle will be good! 
Now, the “Beliveau” I said I didn’t like food named after people and this is why. The poor man must feel a heartache everytime one of those burgers gets served.. The beef pattie had broke and they sort of tried to hide it in the kitchen. Not so great.. Next, the flavors were so dull and boring (no seasoning, mango not ripe and some decent avocadoes). The burger was sooo bland the only thing that popped was the pickle taste…
Needless to say our quest for the “best burger in the west island” is still on. They are really running with their 50’s concept and that’s great. The place was clean and shiny. Other note: 2 drinks, 3 burgers + 1 extra sweet potatoes fries for 60$. There is much more affordable out there for better (I think of burger de ville in NDG)
Apparently the place gets packed and people love it. Good for them. I know I’m not going to be spending more money there anytime soon.

NOT a family friendly restaurant. Went to Jukebox last Friday with 2 kids and wife; they found food ok, but I couldn’t finish my “Elvis Burger”. The burger was saturated with so much grease and fat – a terrible burger! Twisty fries were ok; unfortunately the burger put me off my food. Service was awful; at one point waitress disappear for 15 mins and didn’t ask us if we wanted dessert. Weird stuff: The floor is very slippery, and we saw two waiters wipe out with trays during the evening. A teenage customer also wiped out and hit his arm in front of us as we left (he was crying!). The music was kinda cool – but way too loud; could hardly hear our own conversation. The tables are 4″ too high for 6-7 year old kids – and they don’t have booster seats?
With a draft beer my grease burger & fries came to $24. Very disappointing – I’m gonna head downtown in future.

I would have to admit..even with the fabulous food the ambiance leaves a lot to be desired….Whats with the music? Do we need the hip hop, dance and rap? Was this present in the 50′s?I found myself dying to get out of the restaurant! The noise level combined with the aggressive music are just way too much and not suitable.

      Hi There,

Glad to hear you liked the food, but disAppointed you found the music so aggressive. Sorry about that, I understand how that could have prevented you from enjoying yourself. While we do play a lot of music from the 50s thru the 70s, our clients have also expressed an interest in hearing modern music.

We are having a team meeting tomorrow, and music is on the agenda!

Hope we come up with a solution that can please our guests as much as the music does.

I was not happy with my meal at Jukebox. I received the wrong meal, my husband was finished his meal, and I never even got my correct replacement meal yet. My drink never came, apparently it was given to someone else by mistake. My waitress never came to offer us dessert. She just threw down the bill on out table. I would have liked a sundae. My husband did not like his meal, but never got a chance to order something else, because the waitress never bothered to ask us if everything
was okay. The place seems very un-organized, and it seems to be only little immature babies working there. I will never return again

      Hi Samia,

Must be disappointing to not have been able to eat together with your husband, I can understand how that must have upset you.
We do serve thousands of freshly ground burgers every week, so even if our staff gets 99 percent of orders right, we still make a few errors, and sounds like we made them at your table. That being said, I do stand behind the staff, and name calling is not acceptable to me. I’m sorry that we seem to have lost your business, but I am proud of the outstanding work performed by our team on a regular basis.

Gee Derek a bit sensitive aren’t we? your customer is taking the time to tell you what can be improved…. and then you tell her to not ‘name call?’ I don’t think calling your seemingly amateurish staff ‘immature babies’ is harsh.

On that note, I did visit the restaurant and I was disappointed. The food was very average – hamburgers: bland, fries: greasy, service: amateurish.

You should appreciate every comment even negative, and see it as a chance to improve – not be a smart-ass…. oh sorry wouldn’t want to name call

My boyfriend and I had to stop in and try out this cool deco restaurant. It’s a great diner Vibe (brings back memories of the movie Grease). The lack of 50′s and 60′s music was my only disappointment.
What a variety of burgers, we had to ask our waitress 3 times to come back in a few :-) ! I love all types of music, but, I have to say, I hope you will still have lots of oldies since it is a JUKEBOX restaurant and all that entails. Of course people are going to request up to date music, but, for one fun evening, the restaurant should keep to its original intent .
There are lots of restaurants that play up to date music, but, your restaurant is special because it is retro, don’t cave in. Like I said, I love all types of music, but when I go to jukebox, I want the experience of jukebox…a happy, go lucky place with fun, happy music. As I said in my comment earlier, I have told many of my friends about your place and the charm is that IT IS RETRO. You will lose something if you give in to those requests and believe me, those who want up to date music will still go to jukebox because of the food. Those who love the idea of jukebox and not only the food, might not find it quite as happy and special…don’t know…just thinking out loud :)

You guys opened a restaurant called jukebox and it is a huge success, why cave in to something that will take away part of its glitter…and this is from someone who downloads all the newest hits on I tunes :)

Went at lunch time today with my girlfriend, no hostess at the front, took 10 minutes to have someone seat us, finally seated, waiter comes and I ask him about lunch specials if he had any, tells me it’s a free drink and he’ll be back in 2 minutes….15 minutes go by and he never comes back, there goes almost half my lunch hour. We grabbed our jackets, left and went somewhere else.

we have gone on many occasions and have really enjoyed it. The music could be more of the 50/60 era due to the name and decor and could also be lower due to the sometime large/noisy crowds being there. We had already gone to 5 guys and still find YOUR burgers the best. One can taste the REAL BEEF FLAVOR , I grew up in the 50/60 era and really enjoyed the decor of your restaurant. The burger was really A-1. Real beef is always appreciated!! Nice selection to choose from, although I could have easily have shared my plate with someone, and ultimately suffered from slight indigestion, my own doing of course. The coleslaw was nice but a little on the sweet side. We didn’t indulge in any of the ice creams or shakes, already had enough calories for the night. Would go back, and I’m looking forward to trying something different. Will be a little careful though, some of the prices for those burger plates are running a little high ($15-17) – the cheaper ones are a good deal for $13.00.

Waiters were really friendly and polite. Shakes were amazing, burgers were huge! Definitely get your moneys worth…the restaurant was full when we got there so I guess business is going well. Ill definitely be back!!! Next time I wanna check out one of those mac and cheeses though :)

Great ambiance, great food! I don’t understand why so many people hate that restaurant. I brought friends over there a few times and they all loved it. Comparing it to Wendy’s or McDonald’s is like comparing St-Hubert to KFC. For sure it’s gonna cost you more, but the quality is there! If you don’t think so, then you never tasted a real hamburger in your life.

      Thanks Pierre!

We don’t really consider those other guys our competition and find it strange when some dare to compare.

Our salads are top notch, our meat is grinded on site, we have home made soups…and ya it costs a few dollars more.

Of course on our new menu now you can have a quarter pound Chaplin with fries for under 7 dollars. And yes, the bun is still baked in house that day.

So while you can’t compare the food, now you CAN compare the price!!

      Thanks again for writing!

      Hi George (Geo),

Sorry you don’t like our restaurant. Tonight alone we served over 400 satisfied customers, many of whom many told me our burgers, poutines, and desserts blew them away. Perhaps you haven’t visited our restaurant…a comparison to 5 Guys isn’t really appropriate. That being said, i’m up for a taste test challenge between us and any restaurant burger. Drop by, I’ll even pay for the Five Guys Burger. But I bet you will like ours better!

Maybe, long shot that someone may prefer another burger joint. But blow JukeBox away??? That’s trash talk.

Took my family of 5 twice in 2 weeks. Friends went last week…totally amazing experience! Just thinking about it makes my mouth water…the chili Mac’n cheese is out of this world! I want it through an IV! I always take a doggy bag and I get 2 more meals from it! My hubby’s burger was melting in his mouth, we had the ice cream floaters and the smoothies, everything was perfect. the service was good although a bit quick but perfect when you have kids. I TOTALLY dig this restaurant…if we had more money, we would buy a franchise…You can’t compare it to McDo, definitely not in the same category. Don’t go there if you can’t afford AAA grade beef!

Ive eaten there around 6-7 times and though service is not fast and can be a little unprofessional…its still good and friendly, problem with the service is there is a lack of staff on the floor, the owners need to work on that. Second the food is good, seriously..out of all the times i went there, i never had a problem…yes, its pricy but i did see the prices before i ordered, i couldve walked out but didnt! My burgers have always been good…worth 15-16$? Maybe not but i do notice the quality and size is better and bigger than Mcdees, wendys, harveys and wtv burger joint out there! Listen, i really dont believe in giving a bad review on any restaurant unless i have the most horrible experience which i cant say i did at Jukebox, the food is good, not the greatest and the one time i complained was when a burger wasnt really cooked well, the manager was there to kindly apologize and change it right away and not charge the extras i put on it and the fries. That being said, If you dont like something, express yourself and try to resolve it first..if they still cant do it right, then complain on a forum like this but hate reviews are very weird to me unless the food got you really sick or the owners or manager really didnt want to please you in any way which is possible but rare. Once again, i dont know the owners and really dont care as long as i get my food and its good but beware, prices can be a little expensive. If that bothers you, then Jukebox is not for you!!

We were 3 couples and 3 children and we were very happy with everything. The food is great quality, the portions are HUGE, and the decor was fun for us and the kids. The music added to the ambiance too. The service was great even though the place was packed. This place is very family friendly. We went with my brother and sister in law, and cousins from out of town and we were all very happy with the food and the prices. (Why would anyone want to go to Wendy’s or Mcdonald’s anyway? That stuff is pure garbage) Overall this place gets an 8/10. Keep up the good work.

The first time we went to Jukebox, we had great burgers, the second time the burgers were not good at all. It was such a change I was wondering if there is a change in ownership, cook, and/or especially the baker who makes the buns. The first time I ordered the basic burger with a sweet yeast bun. It was like a real sweet yeast bun with a slight glaze on top and not just “air bread” buns normally served in Quebec. As well, the meat was cooked right and evenly flattened the way it should be. However, the second time, the so called sweet yeast bun was not even close to the same. It was not like a real sweet yeast bun and more like a poorly made “air bread” bun that just had something like a sticky syrup sprinkled on it. The bun was a joke compared to the first time. As well, the meat was not flattened correctly; it was thicker on one side and lower on the other side and one part was falling off (which means it doesn’t cook the same). That was just sloppy preparation. So what happened?? Why such a change? The key to a good burger is not just the meat but also the bun. If you use an average store type bun (even if you do cook it yourself), you will still only have an average burger at best. I used to travel all over North America and I do search out good burger joints. It seems this place does have the secret to success and how to make a great burger, but it also seems they also forgot the small subtle things on how to do it the second time I was there and ended up with a so so product. Still, I’ll give them one more chance. If the burger is like the second time, it will be the last for me. Hopefully it will be like the first time.

Honestly, this place is fantastic! Nice decor, friendly staff and fresh products (AAA beef). It is a bit pricey in comparison to Wendy\’s or McDonald\’s but if anyone really knows what their eating when buying food from these fast food places I would be delighted to know as well! Also, the portions are pretty big so if your worried about spending approx. 15$ for a meal just share it with someone… I\’m really picky when it comes to food and I was actually impressed, I usually get sick when I eat cheap food and since I didn\’t get sick from Jukebox (both times i went) I know it was equal to \’homemade\’ quality and not cheapo processed food. PS: Owner went around asking people if everything was fine and if they needed anything, super nice and anyone who says service wasn\’t good is either a competitor or just wierd:S? Hope this review helps and trust me if you go with an open mind you will be pleasantly surprised!

      Hi John,

      Thanks for the write up.

After speaking with hundreds of clients, we decided to make a smaller quarter pound Chaplin burger available. It costs around 7 dollars, including fries. Fresh baked bun, fresh ground meet, fresh sliced pickle…so now while we know. We are on another level when it comes to taste, when it comes to price we are comparable to these other shops.

Finally, we love our staff. I’m not sure they are ready to work at Toque, but they are friendly, efficient, and work very hard. Thanks for noticing!

We were there 3 weeks ago for the first time and it was more than delicious!!! I had read all the reviews before going and was quite apprehensive. Maybe all these comments had some truth to them when they just opened, but in no way is any of what is written here the truth today. I just made my reservation for tonight, and we cant wait to go! YUM YUM & FUN FUN!!!

We visited this restaurant on April 9, 2010, upon the recommendation of a friend (this friend’s assessments have never proven right). The decor is well thought out. It does nothing for the taste of the food. The barn-like room has a high steel ceiling. This make the noise reverberate. Uncontrolled children were screaming. The music is played at a volume for the hearing impaired. We have just returned from a trip to Toronto and and we were blown away by the genuine friendliness of the staff of restaurants at which we stopped. Not so at Jukebox. While not surly, our waitress was definitely not friendly. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich. Uh-uh, not available. I ordered a tuna salad sandwich (all sandwiches come with french-fries). I asked for ny fries not to be salted. WELL , the face she made was as if I had asked her to strip naked. The sandwich was mediocre. My spouse ordered a hamburger with cheese and bacon. It was a large burger and so-so in taste. Both plates came with a huge order of tasty curly fries. My spouse’s Coke came in an optical illusion glass – ie , looks large but is not. At $2.50, one would expect free refills, but no. Lesson learned: never trust this friend’s recommendation again and do not return to Jukebox. It is not worth it

      Hi Stanita,
Thanks for letting us know you had a bad experience.
Every day, we take pride that we run out of some things. Often times, it’s one of our varieties of fresh baked buns. That’s because our buns are fresh baked daily. Old buns are turned into croutons. But the cost of this freshness means that sometimes we run out of things. Sorry it was the chicken salad that day.
Ya, sometimes our place gets a little loud. This especially true when families tend to go out on weekends. Sounds like the day you were there it was just too loud. I understand that that can make a meal less enjoyable. Sorry again.
Our waiters are continually encouraged to be positive and friendly. Sorry that was not the case for you.
Finally, our “optical illusion” come with free refills. We tried to pick a fun glass, not one that rips off our customers. Our goal is to keep all our customers happy, not steal a few pennies worth of soda. We are not like that and it just wouldn’t make business sense.
All in all, sounds like we had a bad day, or at least did not do well with your table. I understand how these things combined could have made you feel angry.
If you give us a second chance, I’ll we don’t disappoint!
